SMASH, aka Richard Payne Sr., owns Smashing The City Barbershop in Houston, catering to Marvel film sets, government officials, and sports stars. With 15 years of experience, he's featured in news, global hair magazines, and taught barbering nationwide.

 

Raised by a cosmetologist single mother, he embraces his role, engages in charity events, and resides in Katy, TX, with his two children. Born in Bogalusa, LA, and raised in Baton Rouge, he graduated from Tara High School, became a licensed Master Barber in 2008, after completing Ray J’s College of Hair.

First of all, let’s talk about great customer service. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and assured my barber would be ready for me in just a moment. Chanel is literally THEE best. I showed her the video reference for the haircut I wanted to get and also my concerns with the previous barber/haircut I had, and she listened very well to what those concerns were and asking for & was able to deliver it effortlessly. She made me feel very comfortable throughout the entire service. She also offered to apply some beard oil for me which I appreciate. ALSO took care of my brows!!!! I left the barbershop feeling brand new. Definitely coming back, y’all need to book with Chanel ASAP!!!
